A newly launched competition by the German Space Agency at DLR and the Luxembourg Space Agency offers students at a German or Luxembourgish university the chance of submitting a proposal for an experiment to be carried onboard the International Space Station.

The proposals may range on a variety of topics, both scientific and technological. The four best experiments – three from Germany, one from Luxembourg – will be brought onboard the ISS, and the respective participants will also be invited to assist at the rocket launch bringing their equipment into space.

The competition is open to small teams of minimum four students studying for a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree at a German or Luxembourgish university. Each winning team will receive 20.000 € to cover the development costs for the equipment needed to conduct the experiment (indoors experiments only).

Students may submit proposals until the 15th of October 2021. All technical specifications, as well as further information on the competition can be found on the contest website.
